Virgin America’s Web site boasts, “We actually allow you to bring a lot, and at very reasonable rates.” Airlines typically charge $50-125 for a third bag, but Virgin charges only $20 each for up to 10 bags. And, in a somewhat controversial move, Virgin is testing a new idea where passengers without carry-on bags can board the plane first. The test is happening on some flights at the San Francisco airport to see if it speeds up the boarding process.
